Nothing starts a Saturday or Sunday morning off better than a refreshing hike! My friends and I have explored a good portion of mother natures backyard and I’ve narrowed my favorites down to three.
Escondido Falls Trail, Malibu
If you are seeking adventure and challenge this is the hike for you. Escondido Falls is filled with steep climbs, lots or rock terrain, a rope to swing on (totally felt like I had my Tarzan moment), but best of all: stunning waterfalls. There is one that is easy to reach and is 50 feet tall. But the real reward comes at the end of the hike where you will see LA’s finest waterfall reaching 150 feet.
Top of the World Hike, Laguna Beach
Top of the World offers one of the best panoramic views of OC’s gorgeous coastlines. You can make this hike as mild or challenging as you want as there are several different routes you can take. I love tackling this trail with friends and then grabbing brunch at Zinc or Urth Caffe, two of Laguna’s best breakfast spots!
Hollywood Sign Hike (aka Hollyridge Trail) at Griffith Park, Los Angeles
This is a hike that everyone should check off their bucket list! There is a “quickie” trail (approximately 45 minutes) or for those seeking more of an intense workout: a 6.5 mile trail (took me about 2.5-3 hours). You’ll endure some steep climbs along the way, but your efforts will pay off when you reach the iconic Hollywood sign! For those wanting to take things up a notch, check out Sunset Ranch and take a guided horseback tour to the sign!
